erotic art exhibition Bargehouse Southbank London

Erotic Art London News – 24th July 2019

IMPORTANT UPDATES

We have news on the exhibition!

Having been terribly messed around and let down by Candid Art Gallery, myself and Espen have for the last couple of months been searching high and low for a venue to host EAL 2019.  We have faced many issues because of the nature of the exhibition and venues being weary of the genre – you know, the usual reception of closed-minded people!  Then due to the lack of places that would consider this exhibition, we found those who were ok with it simply didn’t have the dates we wanted available.  So we have had to change the date also.  We do of course apologise for any inconvenience this may cause any artists.

Anyway, the good news is that we have found a MUCH BETTER venue and we are so excited about this location!

Our new location is:
The Bargehouse
OXO Tower Wharf
Bargehouse Street
South Bank
London
SE1 9PH

This venue is right on the South Bank with a huge footfall of passing traffic.  It is very close to Waterloo station.  And did we mention it is MASSIVE??  This means we can take more art, have more installations, more stalls, workshops and generally just take advantage of having such a large space.

This year we have body casting, life drawing classes, photography workshops, plus a glow in the dark installation in one of our black-out rooms which you have to see!  Of course we have much more coming and we will inform everyone with the full programme once ready.

NEW EXHIBITION DATES: 24th-27th October 2019

What this does mean of course,  now we have more space, there is more chance you can get your work exhibited in a prime location in London!

We will continue to keep you updated on our progress and the programme will be released in due course.

Thank you as always for your support.

Location – The Bargehouse

Raw, atmospheric exhibition space at the heart of London’s South Bank

Bargehouse is an exciting atmospheric space in London’s fast moving South Bank and Bankside areas. A vast, untouched four-storey building, in its raw state Bargehouse is a blank canvas with tremendous scope, often transformed by creatives for atmospheric exhibitions, immersive performance and interactive events. Bargehouse also provides an unusual setting for press launches, fashion shows, staff motivation events, filming and photo shoots. Bargehouse has a range of different spaces each offering unique features and quirks; rooms can be used on their own or in combinations. The venue is part of the Oxo Tower Wharf development owned and managed by social enterprise Coin Street Community Builders and surrounded by restaurants, cafés, bars and 30 innovative contemporary design shops.

Oxo Tower Wharf
Oxo Tower Wharf is an award-winning, landmark building situated on the riverside walkway part of London’s fast moving South Bank and Bankside areas. Oxo Tower Wharf is home to some of the UK’s most innovative and internationally renowned contemporary designers, restaurants, cafes, bars and exhibition venues gallery@oxo and Bargehouse.

The Oxo Tower has been a riverside landmark since the 1930s. During its industrial heyday it was owned by the makers of the OXO brand and has had numerous and varied uses since. By the 1970s it had fallen into disrepair and was largely derelict.

In the 1990s Oxo Tower Wharf entered a new lease of life when Coin Street Community Builders (CSCB) began a major refurbishment project to transform the building into an award-winning mixed use development of co-operative homes, retail design studios, specialist shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and bars.

The £20 million refurbishment was designed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands and funded by a mixture of bank loans and CSCB equity, Housing Corporation grant and English Partnerships. Oxo Tower Wharf received The Royal Find Art Commission/BSkyB Building of the Year for Urban Regeneration Award in 1997.

Since opening to the public in 1996 Oxo Tower Wharf has attracted a wide range of visitors. The ground, first and second floors are home to over 30 retail design studios as well as specialist shops, restaurant spaces to let with breath taking river views, and gallery @oxo with its changing programme of exhibitions.
